Raheem Sterling, a forward for Chelsea, has acknowledged that his team's present troubles are difficult to put into words, but he has no regrets about moving to west London.
The first senior signing of the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital period, Sterling joined Chelsea during the summer. However, like nearly all of his colleagues, Sterling has not lived up to expectations at Stamford Bridge this season.
Sterling has only scored four goals and two assists on an individual level in the Premier League this season, but Chelsea's troubles are so significant that he actually ranks second on both charts for the Blues.
You have lows occasionally. Although I haven't faced this situation before in my career, I am more than up to the task, he told The Sun.
"We are unhappy when we leave the field and feel frustrated and angry. When we finish a game, there are times when you just sit in the locker room and stare into space because you're not sure what just happened. It's hard to handle. You attempt to find a solution that is constructive at all times.
"It's not simple. Everyone in the locker room is used to the thrill of consistently winning games. Since we like it, we want it back. It is not ideal to not have it this year.
"Performances, including mine, haven't been up to par. I haven't been operating at my typical level.
"Like it has been for so many years, we want the football club's major draw to be its performances and trophy wins. It was a no-brainer for me to come here because of the place's historic history and new owners and direction. And I have absolutely no regrets.
Sterling continued by acknowledging that Chelsea hasn't been as consistent as his former team Manchester City, though he emphasized that his old team required a lot of time to establish that in the first place.
"Consistency and structure go hand in hand, and City have that in abundance," he concluded. "My early City years were nothing like that. We were dispersed everywhere. Not the best, they weren't.
