TOTTENHAM DEFEATS NEWCASTLE 6-1, LEAVING JURGEN KLOPP SPEECHLESS.

When Jurgen Klopp watched Tottenham lose 6-1 to Newcastle last week, he claims he thought his television was broken.

Spurs were destroyed at St. James' Park as the Magpies scored five goals in the first twenty-one minutes to make matters much worse for the north London team. Since Cristian Stellini left, Ryan Mason has taken over as interim manager; on Thursday, Mason presided over a 2-2 tie with Manchester United.

On Sunday at Anfield, Liverpool will play Tottenham, but despite the visitors' numerous problems on and off the field, Klopp anticipates a "strong" opposition.

When I arrived home from the Newcastle vs. Tottenham game and turned on the TV, the score was 1-0, Klopp recalled.

"I intended to watch the game a little later since I had something else to do, and when I returned it was already 5-0. Sincerely, I believed that there was a problem with the screen or that a joke had been made. Newcastle is obviously in a great situation right now, so these kinds of things can occur.

"I have never in my life been able to think that way [about Spurs' record at Anfield]. You need to believe that your opponent is extremely powerful in order to have the proper mindset for the game. They are also powerful. 'If you constantly expect an easy game you will never have one, but if you always expect an extremely difficult game then from time to time you might have an easy one,' once stated a very well-known German coach. But it doesn't work the other way.

"I don't know what transpired at Tottenham. Harry Kane, Son, Kulusevski, Perisic, Richarlison, Hojbjerg, and so forth all played outstanding football during their careers. This season, we encountered some difficulties, and perhaps other teams thought, "Oh, it's a great time to play Liverpool."

"Maybe it was, I'm not sure, but if I were in the opposing camp, I never would have predicted that Liverpool would play poorly. I can only think of Tottenham in terms of how strong I anticipate them to be.
