On Sunday, Son and Mohamed Salah—the other winner of the Golden Boot in the Premier League—will face off.
Son Heung-min will be essential to Tottenham's efforts to turn around a dismal season, according to Ryan Mason.
In Thursday's 2-2 draw with Manchester United, Son scored his 13th goal of the year, his fourth consecutive home game-winning goal.
The South Korean has had a challenging season and has been candid about his difficulties in front of goal and lack of confidence, but Spurs' acting head coach praised the 30-year-old and his willingness to never run in the face of difficulty this season.
Sonny is a strong player who typically plays every week of a season. Prior to Sunday's trip to Liverpool, Mason said, "We value him as a player and as a team player, which is first and foremost what is most important.
"In my opinion, Sonny performs best when he attacks the line and the open area. We saw that their combination resulted in the goal, and Sonny really comes to life when Harry (Kane) touches the ball.
"Sonny has had many opportunities this season and, if he had been a little more proficient or had a little more luck occasionally, he definitely could have ended up with 20 to 25 goals at this point in the season.
"Throughout the season, that is what I find most gratifying... Sonny is disappointed that he hasn't scored more goals, it's true. However, he has ultimately managed to gain positions and keep making runs.
When you play as an attacking player, that is crucial because eventually your luck will turn, the goal will be scored, and you'll establish a rhythm and start scoring once more.
I'm hoping Sonny will be important for us during the next five games.
The joint Premier League Golden Boot winners from last season will square off in this weekend's match at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah leading the Liverpool assault.
Salah, who similarly struggled in the first part of the season, has been on fire recently. Tottenham will face a self-assured Jurgen Klopp club that hasn't suffered a home loss in the Premier League since October.
