Dean Henderson ruled out for ‘rest of season’ amid news of Man Utd transfer

According to a new report, Dean Henderson, on loan from Manchester United, has been left out for the rest of the season.

According to the Telegraph, the goalkeeper has encountered another obstacle in his recovery from a thigh injury and will miss the last four games of Nottingham Forest's survival mission.

Henderson, absent from the Forest team since the club's 2-0 win over Leicester in January, hopes to return before the end of the season. He even accompanied Steve Cooper's team on Saturday's trip to Brentford.

Replacing him was Keylor Navas, who had not been in good form in his first foray into English football. The three-time Champions League winner made a stunning save against Brighton last Wednesday.

However, it could be argued that Navas was responsible for Brentford's two late goals at the weekend, which could ultimately cost the club its place in the Premier League.

Henderson is just the latest victim of Forest, whose team has been plagued with injuries. Cooper was without Scott McKenna, Chris Wood, Neco Williams, Willy Boly and Omar Richards for the rest of the season.

Henderson's loan spell expires this summer, however, the 26-year-old is unlikely to feature for United again. Football Insider have claimed the 26-year-old would rather leave Old Trafford than return as second choice for David De Gea.

De Gea, who has kept a record 14 clean sheets this season, is in advanced talks with United over a new contract with reduced terms.

While the Spaniard will receive a pay cut, he is expected to keep his position as the club's number one goalkeeper.

Henderson has been open about his frustration with United's lack of first-team opportunities prior to his move to Forest.

And according to Football Insider, the England international now considers a return to MU 'impossible' after hearing that De Gea signed a contract.
