Tottenham took a 3-0 lead for 15 minutes against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday - a week after an embarrassing loss at the hands of Newcastle

Tottenham were blown away once again

Gary Neville has joked that Tottenham may have to consider setting up a direct debit to reimburse fans for their embarrassing opening 15 minutes at Anfield.

Spurs travel to Merseyside on Sunday hoping to capitalize on their comeback in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Thursday. The result came right after a disastrous 6-1 loss to Newcastle, which saw them lose 5-0 in the first 21 minutes.

Tottenham have finally refunded fans who made the long journey from London to Newcastle. The club issued a statement apologizing to supporters and drawing a line in the sand - but it also set a precedent and opened the door for ridicule for Spurs. They were blown away at Anfield by Liverpool, who took a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes. Curtis Jones caught the volley from Trent Alexander-Arnold's pass before Luis Diaz returned Cody Gakpo's pass and Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot after Cristian Romero darted past Gakpo.

Neville has been extremely critical of Ryan Mason's team and was quick to shed light on the refund last weekend. "They can also set up a direct debit for the fans," he joked with commentator Martin Tyler.

Harry Kane scored to make it 3-1 before half-time with a volley from Ivan Perisic's cross, but they were only revived after a lousy start. The early stages saw Neville attack the opposing team because of a chaotic defense and lack of pressing, as well as pointing fingers at chairman Daniel Levy and former coach Antonio Conte.

"I didn't expect that today, not after what happened in the middle of the week against Manchester United," he said. "I just think coming back to this game will put them in better spirits when they come to Anfield, obviously accepting that they're out.

"But look, this season both on and off the pitch has been really bad. There was a time during the season when they were third in the table, in the Champions League, what more could they ask for? And Levy and Conte are basically against each other, which is always going to happen.

“He named three conflict managers in recovery. It was about five or six years ago when he took them to the Champions League final, second in the league, named [Mauricio] Pochettino, playing great football, right behind Harry Redknapp, they built a world-class stadium, there's a world-class training ground, and then suddenly, the appointment of coaches in terms of lining up with the club over the past few years has been complete chaos.
