Bernardo Silva supports his teammate and "good guy" Haaland to triumph at the Ballon d'Or
Erling Haaland will be a worthy Ballon d'Or if Manchester City wins a historic treble this season.
Only one player - Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 - was voted the best player in the world in the Premier League, but Haaland's 49 goals already this season make him an outstanding candidate, especially since there is no major international tournament this summer.
Bernardo Silva is cheering on the great Norwegian who will lead the line at Fulham on Sunday.
"I hope he wins because he is not only a good player, he is a very good guy. And this means that we have won the Premier League and the Champions League! I encourage her to be fair," he said.
Bernardo is perfectly placed to compare Haaland to his Portuguese teammate Ronaldo.
"The personalities are different, off the pitch he is a very different guy to Cristiano," he says.
"On the pitch, there are some similarities in terms of the thirst to score goals when he is in the box.
"When the ball is near the goal, Erling is always there, he has this flair of knowing where the ball is going to fall. Cristiano has it too.
"They are different players in other aspects, but this hunger to want to score and score and score, to help the team, it's similar.'
Haaland will equal the all-time Premier League goalscoring record in a season if he scores at Craven Cottage to take his tally to 34 and Andy Cole and Alan Shearer have reached that total in a 42-game season.
City's No. 9 has scored 16 times in his last nine games in all competitions.
Liverpool's Michael Owen was voted European Player of the Year equivalent to the Ballon d'Or in 2001, but it only opened up to players based on all con tinents in 2007.
