After scoring the game-winning goal in Sunday's 1-0 triumph over Aston Villa for Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes performed an odd celebration.
The playmaker for United scored the opening goal against Villa at Old Trafford by being the first to react to Marcus Rashford's original missed shot.
Emiliano Martinez of Argentina, the World Cup champion goalkeeper, parried a shot from Rashford after he had beaten Villa's offside trap.
The opponent's shot-stopper believed he had neutralized the threat, but he was powerless to stop a charging Fernandes who gained possession of the ball ahead of fleeing defenders.
When Martinez was attempting to stand up, the Portuguese playmaker angled his shot past him, giving United the lead.
Instead of going to the corner surrounded by home supporters, Fernandes ran to celebrate in front of the visiting Villa fans who had been jeering him since the game began.
While his teammates ran around, United's acting captain stood in front of the disappointed visitors and stared at them with little emotion on his face.
Marcus Rashford leaped on the 28-year-old's back at Old Trafford, while Marcel Sabitzer grabbed him by the shoulders as he continued to stand still and stare towards the away section.
Around 12 seconds into the strange celebratory exchange, the goal scorer finally broke his focus to sprint back to the halfway line and restart the game.
Fernandes emphasized the value of earning three points in his post-game interview with Sky Sports, saying: "It is always important [to win]."
'We knew we would play one squad in incredibly good form that hasn't lost in their past 10 games. We know this club is about winning games, every game we have to win, dones not matter the opponent.
They [Villa] have fantastic players and routines, but we also believed we could complete our task and prevail in the match.
We could have scored more goals, but we are delighted with the three points because we accomplished what we trained to do, the player stated.
