From designing and flying drones to building fully functional aircraft, the Engineering Club at Afia Kobi Ampem Senior High School in Trabuom, Ghana, continues to impress the world with its ingenuity and creativity. In 2022, the Education Minister was left in awe as the club showcased the first drone that they had designed themselves. Fast forward to today, and the club has designed yet another incredible aircraft - a Naval Maritime Patrol Aircraft.
This new Naval Maritime Patrol Aircraft designed by the Engineering Club at Afia Kobi Ampem Senior High School is a significant improvement from their previous drone. The aircraft is designed to take off from a stationary position on a runway, giving it more versatility and making it easier to operate. The team tested the aircraft on a mini runway, which gave them a chance to fine-tune its performance before it took off into the air. During the test flight, the aircraft flew for several minutes in various directions, showcasing its impressive capabilities, before safely landing back on the runway. This craft is smaller than the previous drone they built which had to take of mid-air.
The work being done by the Engineering Club at Afia Kobi Ampem Senior High School is a testament to the power of innovation, creativity, and practical training. Their achievements in designing and building fully functional aircraft and drones are nothing short of impressive. This kind of hands-on learning and skill acquisition not only helps students develop practical skills but also inspires them to think beyond what is possible and strive toward new heights.
The impact of this kind of innovation on communities, especially in developing countries, cannot be overstated. The success of the Engineering Club at Afia Kobi Ampem Senior High School serves as an inspiration to many, and a reminder that with the right resources, support, and encouragement, anyone can achieve great things.
