The final month of the 2022/23 season is coming and for some it will be welcomed with open arms. But in May, Liverpool still have work to do.

Jurgen Klopp's men found rare consistency in April, which gave them an unexpected advantage at the end of the season.

The Premier League will have seven clubs qualifying for one of Europe's three leagues next season, but the Champions League seems to have too much work to do for the Red Devils.

All they can do is put the results on the board and see how the situation unfolds on May 28, when the curtain closes on a season many have long lined up. However, there are still important days to come for the first team, women's team and academy.

Fulham (H) – May 3

The month began with a night in the lights at Anfield, for a rescheduled meeting with Fulham was postponed due to their participation in the FA Cup.

The last time they met was on opening day, the 2-2 draw almost set the tone for what we can expect from Liverpool this season.

Fulham are in inconsistent form and Marco Silva will not be able to call the suspended Aleksandar Mitrovic for the clash.

Brentford (H) – May 6

Just three days later and it's back to Anfield for the penultimate home game of the campaign, and would it be nice to give the bees a taste of their own medicine? It has been a stellar campaign for Thomas Frank's side, but Liverpool must correct the mistake of a 3-1 defeat at their hands at the start of the year.

Please, red.

Leicester (A) – May 15

The trip to Leicester after Monday night's football game gives Klopp's side nine days of rest between games and extra time to recover from any problems or injuries.

The Foxes are fighting for their lives and have replaced Brendan Rodgers with Dean Smith to ensure their safety in the Premier League, ensuring this journey will not be easy.

Liverpool had to score an own goal twice in the previous encounter, and it is possible the Reds will deal a fatal blow to their relegation battle with another victory. Aston Villa (H) – May 20

The final home game of the season is upon us, and Aston Villa could come with its European ambitions still within reach.

But this match will have meaning beyond the result because this will be the moment to say goodbye to Roberto Firmino after eight seasons, and the number 9 will definitely have to say goodbye to a legend.

It will also be the last time Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita arrive at Anfield as Liverpool players, along with James Milner.

It will be an emotional afternoon at Anfield and hopefully Bobby is fit enough to play.

The roof at the end of Anfield Road has been demolished

At the end of Liverpool's season at Anfield, the construction team will begin work on removing the existing roof over the Anfield Road stands. This will mark an important step towards completion in time for the 2023/24 season, with the process expected to not be too different from the main stand in 2016.

The removal of the existing roof will allow the two floors of the new grandstand to come together, with interior and exterior a work in progress. Enjoy the point of interest!

Southampton (A) – May 28

The South Coast then invite for the final game of the season, which will decide which European tournament the Reds enter in the 2023/24 season - and whether Southampton remain in the top flight. .
