Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp admitted his celebration in front of fourth referee John Brooks was out of place but also criticized referee Paul Tierney.

A referee's charity has called for Liverpool to be awarded the points for the second time this season following the latest controversial incident involving match referees at Anfield in recent weeks.

Jürgen Klopp was criticized for fouling from the touchline when Diogo Jota scored a late winner against Tottenham on Sunday, with the Liverpool manager celebrating in front of the fourth referee before being shown a yellow card by referee Paul Tierney.

Klopp then criticized Tierney's performance during the match in his post-match interview, wondering if the Great Manchester official didn't like his team. “We have history with Tierney,” said Klopp. "I really don't know what he has against us. He says there's no problem but that can't be true. The way he looks at me, I don't understand."

Martin Cassidy, chief executive of Ref Support UK, has since spoken to The Telegraph about the incident:

“The last time Klopp was charged, the board fined him £30,000 and banned him for one game on the touchline,” he said. “What happens now? They give him another restraining order? Higher penalty?

"He did it instinctively. Obviously the fine and the one-match ban didn't stop him. The only thing I see that can solve this problem quickly is to say: 'We're going to subtract. points for frequent violators'".

"I can't think of a stronger deterrent," the Reds supporter added. "Imagine if Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League because they were stripped of points due to the behavior of their manager.

"Think of the message that will be spread around the world. I know deducting points will severely fix the situation. Instead, you're firing a pea-shot with fines that don't make sense. What."

Wherever you are in the world - in the US, UK or beyond - you don't want to miss a thing. Asked specifically if he wanted points deducted for Sunday's game, Cassidy said:

"I want to get points deducted or at least watch it. They [FA] refuse to do that.

"I'm a Liverpool fan but we need to take a step back as an organization and I need to reflect the members' views on this. Only a fool would say that negative behavior doesn't matter. copied."

A few weeks ago, after Liverpool's draw with Arsenal, Cassidy also suggested that deducting points would help prevent players from crowding the referee on the pitch as Andy Robertson appeared to be elbowed by assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis. He also said the "two meter rule" would prevent clashes. "This officer appears to be off duty," Cassidy told the Mirror at the time of the incident. "And if the action is intentional and aggressive, then he should be banned like any other player - not more, but for the same [duration]. The lesson to be learned here is:

What did a player do again and handle a match official?

"Deal with the effect, but you also have to deal with the cause," continued Cassidy.
