United was defeated 4-1 by Bournemouth, furthering their relegation woes.

Leeds' players have apologized in a statement for their performance at Bournemouth on Sunday and for ignoring fans as they left the team hotel.

A video that was shared on social media after their 4-1 loss on Sunday, which put them in serious danger of being relegated, showed players ignoring a group of supporters, including a small boy, in the hotel lobby.

Leeds just one point above the bottom three after suffering their fourth loss in five games.

"As the first team squad at Leeds United, we wanted to reach out to the fan base regarding (Sunday's) game and subsequent posts on social media," the players said in a statement.

"First of all, the performance needed improvement. The only way to respond is on the field because there is no other way to look at it. Large numbers of Leeds supporters travel across the nation, and they deserve better than this.

"The YouTube footage of us leaving the hotel is just as worrying to us as a group. We are extremely sorry that the young person wearing the Leeds jersey in the video didn't receive more attention from the team.

"On a matchday, we go on an activation walk, and before and after that, we stop for pictures and signatures to make sure we engage with the fans while still getting to the games on time.

"However, there is no justification for ignoring supporters, and if the parents of the supporter in the video wearing a Leeds jersey could get in touch with us, we would be appreciative.

"We don't think this fight is over, and we'll keep fighting until the final ball of this season is kicked. Again, I want to thank you for your help.

Fans have been upset by Leeds' recent performances. This month, they were defeated by Crystal Palace, Liverpool, and Bournemouth, respectively, by scores of 5-1, 6-1, and 4-1.

They set a new Premier League record for goals against in a month with 23 goals allowed, and on Sunday night, the Leeds United Supporters Advisory Board, a group of fans, voted a vote of no confidence in the club's board and manager Javi Gracia.
