With a game remaining, Manchester City leads with a one-point advantage.
Mikel Arteta complimented his team for refusing to be content with Champions League qualification while maintaining that Arsenal is still aiming for the Premier League crown.
Arsenal, who had been in first place for the majority of the season, dropped to second place after Manchester City defeated Fulham 2-1 on Sunday.
Including last week's 4-1 thrashing of the Gunners, which gave City their fifth title in six years, they have now won eight straight league games.
Arsenal, on the other hand, has only earned three points from their past four games, but their performance throughout the season has at least secured their return to the Champions League after six seasons away from Europe's top competition.
Even though City are now the favorites, Arteta will be looking to get back on track when struggling Chelsea visit the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night. Arteta wouldn't rule out the possibility of Arsenal winning the title.
With five games remaining and a lot of things yet to happen, he remarked, "We have accomplished what was challenging to accomplish and we can still win the Premier League."
"At this point, the title race is no longer in our control. The only thing we can do is try to win the games we still have left; the rest is up to City.
"What we need to do is move over the events of last week, take what we learned from them, and focus fully on the upcoming London derby game against our supporters at home.
"I understand what we were doing, what the goal of what we've been doing was, and with five games remaining, we still have the best portion of the season to play. But as I continue to consider it, it is still not over.
With five or six games remaining, this football club will once again play in the Champions League, something that hasn't happened in more than ten years. I am very proud of everyone who has helped make this possible and am grateful to them all.
