Dean Smith, the manager of Leicester, refrained from placing the blame for James Maddison's missed penalty in the tumultuous 2-2 tie with Everton.

The forward's first-half penalty kick was saved by Jordan Pickford, preventing the Foxes from going up 3-1. Alex Iwobi then earned a point for the Toffees.

In a thrilling contest, Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy quickly offset Dominic Calvert-Lewin's opening penalty kick.

With four games remaining, Everton, who lost Seamus Coleman to what appeared to be a catastrophic knee injury, is in last place and one point from safety after the draw pushed Leicester out of the relegation zone on goal differential.

James is our top scorer; if he scores, nobody is asking questions, according to boss Dean Smith. Few people take this action, but the goalkeeper did. It takes place. There were times when I thought I had lost two points, and other times when I thought I had earned one.

The game resembled basketball for lengthy stretches in the first half, and we were counter-attacking at home, which is not what we wanted. We were second best for the first half, which disappointed me. There were simply so many careless mistakes. We just played Leeds and Everton and earned two points. Would we have been in a better position if we had won one and lost one because one of our competitors would have had three points?

There is yet more to come, and we will play better.

Iwobi was first stopped by Daniel Iversen, but Calvert-Lewin's penalty gave Everton the lead after the striker was shoved over by Timothy Castagne in the box on the fifteenth minute.

Seven minutes later, Soyuncu guided in from Wout Faes' kickback to tie the score for Leicester.

When Maddison sent Vardy through to get around Pickford and score just 11 minutes later, they turned the game around.

After a brief intermission, Vardy struck the crossbar and Calvert-Lewin squandered a great opportunity to tie the score.

Prior to Pickford's crucial save, when he stayed to block Maddison's penalty after Michael Keane's handball, Coleman was carried off following a Boubakary Soumare challenge.

The word "stay" was written in Maddison's technique notes on the goalkeeper's water bottle.
