Contradictory reports surround ex-Spurs man joining Pochettino at Chelsea
Chelsea appear to be closing in on Mauricio Pochettino, but conflicting reports surround a move for Paul Mitchell.
The Blues have chosen Pochettino as their long-term successor to Graham Potter at the end of the season.
Chelsea could consider other appointments to facilitate their summer transfer window with a tie-up with Mitchell.
The Sun claim Chelsea plan to sign Mitchell this summer to help ease the burden on some of the players on the sidelines.
The exact job title has not been revealed, but Mitchell's connections in France and Germany will appeal to Chelsea. Mitchell is also close to Pochettino having worked together at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.
A move to Chelsea seems ideal, bringing the duo together in an attempt to align the Blues squad.
However, there are mixed opinions that Mitchell is heading to Stamford Bridge.
The London Evening Standard claims that Chelsea have no plans to make any further changes to their recruitment setup.
Mitchell was said to have been interested by Chelsea in September, but their interest has now ended. Chelsea have signed sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley this season.
Adding technical director Christopher Vivell, Chelsea doesn't really seem to have a place for Mitchell at the moment.
Vivell has a history with Mitchell, as they actually worked with the Bundesliga team RB Leipzig.
Mitchell is currently Monaco's sporting director, but he is expected to leave this summer.
Liverpool's links have also been reduced, so mixed rumors about Chelsea mean it's hard to know exactly where Mitchell is headed. We tend to believe the reports from the Standard, and a meeting between Pochettino and Mitchell now seems a little hard to imagine.

Brighton are looking for revenge following their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Man United in this week's Premier League encounter and De Zerbi has some decisions to make.
Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi says he faces headaches ahead of Thursday's trip to Manchester United.
The Seagulls are looking to avenge their FA Cup semi-final loss last month and enter the tournament after a 6-0 loss to Wolves. De Zerbi sent star players Alexis Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo and Kaoru Mitoma to the bench to prepare for victory.
Substitute striker Deniz Undav scored twice while Billy Gilmour put in a solid performance. Pascal Gross and Danny Welbeck scored the remaining four.
Brighton has been praised for recruiting and developing players to the team and De Zerbi says he faces a difficult decision about who to drop after Saturday's resounding win.
Speaking to club media, the Italian said:
"I look forward to working with the players on Tuesday and deciding on the first squad. That will be a problem, I think I will lose sleep, but that is not the problem."
Brighton are 11 points behind United after playing one game less. They will be hoping to secure a place in Europe as Erik ten Hag looks to cement their place in the top four following Sunday's 1-0 win over Aston Villa. United will be without Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, although they received a boost when Alejandro Garnacho returned to training on Friday. The winger has not played since picking up an ankle injury against Southampton on March 12.
Evan Ferguson missed Brighton's Wembley game against United due to injury and missed Saturday's win over Wolves. However, the 18-year-old striker could return to the squad on Thursday, after signing a new deal last week amid tentative links with United.
