A potential takeover of Manchester United by Sir Jim Ratcliffe could see one of football's most talented scouts integrated into the club's hierarchy.
Ratcliffe is reportedly likely to buy United after the Daily Mail claimed that his company, INEOS, had submitted an offer higher than that of Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim.
If Ratcliffe is successful, the British businessman already has a plan for the club structure.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Mitchell could be offered a role at Manchester United after being considered for a job at Nice, which is also owned by INEOS.

The 41-year-old is currently AS Monaco's director of football, but is expected to leave the Ligue 1 side at the end of the season, paving the way for a possible move to Old Trafford. And Reds fans have a lot to be excited about, with the England player having a stellar track record at previous clubs.
Who signed Mitchell?

Mitchell has extensive transfer experience, having coached the teams of Southampton, Tottenham and RB Leipzig, before moving to Monaco.
During his time at Tottenham, he was responsible for the recruitment of Dele Ali, Toby Alderweireld, Keiran Trippier and Son Heung-min.
While the four players had very different trajectories, at the height of their power they made for a hugely interesting Tottenham team. Son scored 102 goals for the north London side, winning the golden boot last season alongside Liverpool's Mohamed Salah. While Trippier is Eddie Howe's Champions League captain chasing Newcastle.

At Southampton, Mitchell also signed Sadio Mane, who won numerous awards under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
But the list doesn't end there. Mitchell has enjoyed great success at RB Leipzig, signing Christian Nknunku from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. The Frenchman then won the Bundesliga Player of the Year award for the 2021-22 season, signing a £62m move to Chelsea, with Leipzig pocketing more than £50m in profit.
It's very unlikely that Mitchell could pull off this particular deal, with Nknunku set to arrive at Stamford Bridge next season.

However, the Englishman could play a key role in Manchester United's pursuit of Brazilian right-back Vanderson, with Erik ten Hag said to be keen on the 21-year-old.
Mitchell signed Vanderson for Monaco last year but since then the defender has been the subject of numerous rumors of a move to Old Trafford - and it could be Mitchell's first deal.
