There is a new chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG). He is Rt. Rev. Dr. Hilliard Dela Dogbe, Presiding Bishop of the Western West Africa Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (A.M.E. Zion Church).
This comes after his election at the council's annual general meeting, which was held in Accra, Ghana, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
With his election, he succeeds the Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, who has held the position of Council Chairman for the past two years, as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG).
Profile: Rt. Rev. Dr. Hilliard K. Dela Dogbe is the Presiding Bishop of the Western West Africa Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (A.M.E. Zion Church), which includes Liberia and Cote d'Ivoire, with additional responsibilities for Angola and Namibia, Ghana, and Togo.
He serves as the A.M.E. Zion Church's first resident indigenous bishop in Ghana. Rt. Rev. Dr. Dogbe graduated from Trinity College at the University of Ghana in Legon and Accra Academy.
He received a Master of Arts in Practical Theology (Christian Education) from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey, and a Master of Theology in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary in Accra, Ghana.

Additionally, he has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Practical Theology with distinction from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, as well as numerous certificates in management and leadership.
The Society of Pastoral Theology, an international association of pastoral theologians with its main office in Decatur, Georgia, has the Rt. Rev. Hilliard Dogbe as a member.
He now teaches as an adjunct at Trinity Theological Seminary in Legon after serving as an adjunct professor of practical theology at Luther Seminary.
He has over 20 years of experience in pastoral ministry and is an ordained minister of the A. M. E. Zion Church. He has also worked for Princeton Theological Seminary in the United States for many years as an international supervisor for field education.
Dr. Dogbe is the author of two books: "The Church and Alcoholism in Ghana: A Practical Theological Interpretation" (2014) and "Alcoholism in the African Family: A Christian Perspective" (2011).
Bishop Hilliard Dogbe is married to Cynthia, and the couple has two wonderful kids.
