The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is expected to prevail in both the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2024, according to a report by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) of the United Kingdom.
According to research made public on Friday, April 28, the NDC had a good probability of winning the 2024 presidential election and obtaining a majority in the legislature.
"Our underlying hypothesis is that the voters would want change as a result of economic challenges, the effects of debt restructuring, and inadequate governance.
Thus, the NDC has a good chance of winning the 2024 presidential election and gaining a legislative majority, the statement said.

The study said that Ghana's strategy will continue to be centered on sustaining macroeconomic stability regardless of who wins the election.
According to the research, the next administration will experience the same economic difficulties as its predecessor.
The UK-based outfit also concentrated on the internal elections for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and NDC, expecting fierce competition in both polls to determine which candidates would represent their parties' presidential candidatures.
According to the source, the NDC might "choose to revitalize its prospects with a fresh candidate" like Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former finance minister and one of the three contenders competing to head the party, in the presidential election slated for May 13, 2023.
John Dramani Mahama, a former president, and Kojo Bonsu, a former chief executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), are the other two.
Reaction
Some prominent NDC and NPP members have responded to the report since it was made public.
Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer for the NDC, and Dr. Clement Apaak, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South and ranking member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, both stressed in separate interviews that the party will not become complacent.
They said that the party would "not go to sleep" and would instead keep working on its plans and initiatives to win the elections.
Sammy Gyamfi stated that the party was closely following its electoral strategy and taking a great interest in the voting places.
Dr. Apaak, on his part, advised the NDC members to show Ghanaians why they were a better option instead of placing too much emphasis on the study.
"We need to prove to the good people of Ghana that we are a superior option."
By emphasizing the utter failure of the present NPP administration, we must show them what we can accomplish differently.
