After returning from injury, the French star has developed his scoring prowess, closing another individual title this season, although PSG did not win the Ligue 1 championship. Mbappe did not win. Lille's Jonathan David will always be a thorn in Mbappe's flesh as he hovers around the top of the table, arguing until the very end, even without winning the accompanying prize. Scoring 21 goals and having 1 assist like Mbappe is no coincidence when he plays very consistently since the beginning of the season. Jonathan is just two goals away from first place and could surprise everyone by winning the prize at the end of the season.
Lyonnais Alexander Lacazette has been fantastic since leaving Arsenal FC in England for his former club in France. The French striker has scored 20 goals for opponents Lyon in 30 games. He also has the same number of assists as Mbappe and Lille's Jonathan David and could be the real winner at the end of the season, if he scores the necessary goals. Lacazette will match Mbappe if he scores a hat-trick against Montpellier in Lyon's next match.
The likes of Messi and Neymar are far behind the top scorers, but Messi remains the only goalscorer with the league's biggest assist so far. The top scorer award will definitely be a competition between Mbappe, David and Lacazette.
