Manchester City 3-0 West Ham: Pep Guardiola's side go back to the top of the table

Manchester City secured a comfortable 3-0 victory against West Ham, putting them back on top of the Premier League table. The game was marked by a historic moment as Erling Haaland scored his 35th Premier League goal of the season, breaking the record set by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole in the mid-1990s. Haaland's goal came in the 70th minute after Jack Grealish played a through ball to him, and he deftly chipped the ball over the West Ham goalkeeper with his left foot. The win also marked City's ninth consecutive league victory.

The game started off with West Ham stubbornly resisting City's attempts to break them down. However, Nathan Ake eventually scored the opening goal in the 50th minute, heading in a free-kick. Haaland's historic goal came 20 minutes later, and Phil Foden sealed the victory with a late goal in the 85th minute. City dominated the game, especially in possession, and largely controlled the encounter at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite not playing particularly well for much of the game, City found a way to win, which has become a hallmark of the team under Pep Guardiola's leadership. The win puts City in a strong position to win their fifth Premier League title in the last six years.

Looking ahead, City will face Leeds at the Etihad on Saturday, where Guardiola will have the chance to test Sam Allardyce's claims about him made during Allardyce's unveiling as Newcastle manager. City will be confident of securing another victory and extending their lead at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Arsenal, who are currently in second place, will face a tricky trip to Newcastle on Sunday.

The record-breaking feat of Haaland cannot be overstated, as it marks an incredible achievement for the 20-year-old Norwegian striker. Haaland has been in scintillating form this season, and his goal-scoring prowess has been a key factor in City's success. He has already established himself as one of the best strikers in world football and shows no signs of slowing down.

Overall, City's win against West Ham was a solid performance that highlighted their strength and depth as a team. With five league games left to play, they are in pole position to win yet another Premier League title. The team's ability to find a way to win even when not playing at their best is a testament to their resilience and quality. City's fans will be hoping that their team can continue to deliver results and cement their place as one of the greatest teams in Premier League history.
