Jürgen Klopp on LFC 1-0 Fulham: 'We had to show big fight to get the result' as he hails Liverpool star as 'most consistent of the season'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised his team's fighting spirit after their hard-fought 1-0 win over Fulham at Anfield on Wednesday night. The result saw the Reds secure their fifth consecutive victory and extend their unbeaten run to seven games in the Premier League. Mohamed Salah's first-half penalty proved to be the difference between the two sides, but Liverpool had goalkeeper Alisson Becker to thank for preserving their lead with a fantastic save from Carlos Vinicius in the dying minutes of the game.

Klopp hailed Alisson's consistent performances this season, describing the Brazil international as the club's most reliable player. The German manager was also pleased with Liverpool's control of the game in the first half and their ability to create chances, but he acknowledged that they should have scored more goals. He praised Fulham for their strong performance, particularly given the number of changes they had to make due to injuries.

Klopp noted that Liverpool had studied Fulham's recent games, including their match against Manchester City, and were well-prepared for their opponent's counter-attacking style of play. He also praised Salah's penalty, which was awarded after a counter-pressing situation involving Darwin Nunez. The manager said that he was pleased with the win, especially considering the difficulty of securing five consecutive victories in the Premier League.

The result moves Liverpool up to fifth place in the league table and puts them in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League next season. Klopp acknowledged that his team still has room for improvement, but he was pleased with their fighting spirit and commitment to securing the win. He noted that the team had to fight until the end of the game and praised the players who came off the bench for their energy and effort.

Overall, Klopp was pleased with Liverpool's performance and the result, but he acknowledged that there is still work to be done. The team will need to continue to fight and improve in order to secure a top-four finish and qualify for the Champions League. However, Klopp's faith in his players and their ability to rise to the challenge bodes well for the remainder of the season.
