Liverpool are charging a late fee for a Champions League spot, with Manchester United currently occupying one of those slots.
Liverpool tries to chase Manchester United in the race for the top 4
Liverpool FC captain Jordan Henderson has admitted Manchester United are a "very good" team and does not believe his club can catch them in the race for fourth place.
United are four points ahead of their fifth-placed rivals having played two games less. Erik ten Hag's side face Brighton on Thursday with Chelsea and Fulham playing the remaining six games.
Liverpool have just four games left with Brentford, Leicester, Aston Villa and Southampton. They beat Fulham 1-0 on Wednesday night to extend their winning streak to five in an extra season.
A win over Brighton would help United widen the gap between the two teams to seven points, a number that would become 10 if they win the game to give them an almost unattainable lead.
If the third-placed team, Newacstle, win the match in hand, they will be 9 points ahead of Liverpool. The Magpies and United have had successful seasons with the upcoming Champions League qualification.
As a result, it looks like Liverpool will lose and Henderson admits catching up is highly unlikely. He praised the quality of all the teams currently in the top four with Arsenal and Manchester City battling for the title.
When asked about the alleged delay of a Champions League spot following Fulham's win, Henderson admitted:
"I doubt it. I think if you look at the guys that were ahead of us, they're very good and come quite far.
I think we just think about ourselves and our performance level. Hopefully we can be much more settled when we come back after the summer.
United are looking to repeat Liverpool's feat last season by winning both domestic cups. The Reds beat Newcastle to win the League Cup in February and are in the FA Cup final against arch-enemies Man City on June 3.
