Arsenal could re-sign academy graduate in a discount deal this summer if relegation fears come true

Arsenal have been linked with the signing of Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah this summer - and they could re-sign their academy graduate in a discounted deal.

Musah joined the Gunners academy at the age of nine in 2012, was born in New York and had lived in Italy before that time.

He spent 7 years in north London before deciding to join Valencia.

After initially being assigned to the B team, Musah was promoted to the first team by coach Javi Gracia in the summer of 2020 and became the youngest non-Spanish player to score for the club when he scored. table in November of the same year.

Now making over 100 appearances in all competitions for Valencia, the 20-year-old has established himself as one of the club's key players. Musah also made 25 caps for the United States and represented them at the World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking after the United States' 4-1 friendly win over Jamaica, then head coach Gregg Berhalter said (quoted via Goal):

"I think he [Musah] did a great job. He was the connector. The match was very, very simple but effective tonight.

"He made it easy, and I think he had a really, really good performance."

The midfielder has been linked with a possible return to Arsenal this summer - and Mikel Arteta's side can secure his signature for less than expected. Arsenal contact Musah transfer

Fabrizio Romano announced in his CaughtOffside column on Monday that the Gunners and Chelsea are monitoring Musah ahead of a possible attack in the summer.

However, Arsenal's top priority for central midfield is West Ham star Declan Rice, with Daily Mail's Sami Mokbel reporting that the club are also interested in Brighton's Moises Caicedo and Southampton's Romeo Lavia.

Musah could be an option if those deals don't materialize. However, football.london insists he has an £86m release clause at Valencia.

But the Spanish club, which finished fourth in La Liga and won the Copa del Rey in 2019, are in danger of being relegated to Spain's top division this season. The club have sold several key players for cheap in recent seasons, such as Dani Parejo, Carlos Soler and Maxi Gomez.

They are above the relegation zone by goal difference, with five games of the season still in play.

So, if the club is promoted to the Segunda Division, Arsenal can convince them to sell Musah cheap if this player applies to play in the Premier League for the 2023/24 season.
