Barcelona youngster set to join Villarreal on loan next season
Pablo Torre, one of the top attacking midfielders in Spanish football, joined Barcelona from Racing Santander after Barcelona defeated Real Madrid in the chase. The player was registered to Barça Atletic, but has been a member of the senior team. With the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Franck Kessie, and Sergio Busquets in the midfield, it was always going to be very difficult for Torre to receive minutes this season.
While he is regularly called up to the senior team for games, Torre has clocked no more than five appearances in the league this season, and only gets minutes towards the end of matches, more often than not.
After Barcelona defeated Real Madrid in the chase, Pablo Torre, one of the best attacking midfielders in Spanish football, moved from Racing Santander to Barcelona. Although he was a member of the senior team, the player was registered to Barça Atletic. It was never going to be easy for Torre to play this season with players like Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Franck Kessie, and Sergio Busquets in the midfield.
Barcelona want to loan him out to a club where he will get first-team minutes, and Villarreal seems to the best option for him right now.
While he has not received regular playing time at the club, Xavi has always spoken highly about the youngster, recently saying, “He brings an interior play, he has a lot of talent, he is the best at set pieces, in corners, in side fouls, he can have minutes in these games.”
Along with Marcos Alonso, the player is reportedly'smashing' free-kicks every day in practice, according to recent reports.
In light of this, it seems sense that Pablo Torre would wish to leave the team this summer as his playing time is further reduced due to Barcelona's pursuit of Ilkay Gundogan.
