Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy could sanction another summer of big transfer spending to acquire a top manager.

Tottenham could strike a £110m double deal this summer with chairman Daniel Levy said to be keeping an eye on Leicester City duo James Maddison and Harvey Barnes. Hailing the Foxes duo would send a message to Spurs' management targets who may be wary of taking the job in north London after the club's tumultuous campaign.

Levy was forced to take on a more proactive role in appointing a new manager and planning transfers after Fabio Paratici left Tottenham. The goals were explored, with new legs and new ideas needed to lift the spirits on the rooftop. Things took a turn for the worse at Spurs in recent weeks as the sacking of Antonio Conte failed to produce the desired results. His successor, Cristian Stellini, was sacked after just four games, and new caretaker coach Ryan Mason had a rough start as well.

New talent could help turn the tide and the Daily Mail claim Spurs are keeping an eye on both Barnes and Maddison.

The Foxes are said to be preparing to sell Maddison this summer whether they stay in the Premier League or not after years of transfer attachments with top clubs. Valued at £50m, he would be a huge investment for Levy and his team-mates, but the 26-year-old has enjoyed another productive season with 17 goal contributions in 26 appearances. in the Premier League. Barnes was equally effective, scoring 10 goals for the relegation-struggling. While Maddison is believed to have proven more at the highest level, Barnes' long-term contract means he is likely to be even more expensive, with a price tag believed to be £60m.

Maddison could be relatively affordable for a few more weeks as he nears the end of the last 12 months of his contract at King Power Stadium. Even so, the Foxes will make a big profit from the £20m they paid Norwich City in 2018.

Levy will no doubt face competition on both fronts, with Aston Villa rumored to be interested in Barnes and Newcastle United in hiding following their investigation last summer. The Magpies are also set to join the hunt for Maddison, and they can better beat Spurs as they head towards the Champions League.

Landing two talented homegrown stars will bring many benefits to the Spurs, including demonstrating management goals they see as business. Julian Nagelsmann, who has been sacked by Bayern Munich this season, would certainly be wary of signing if he feels the club are satisfied with rising to the top of Europe each season.

In addition to Nagelsmann, Levy is said to have researched six other targets to succeed Conte long-term, including Arne Slot, Vincent Kompany, Ange Postecoglou, Roberto De Zerbi, Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim.
