According to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, maintaining peace throughout the nation is a top priority for the administration in order to speed up development.

Therefore, he expressed his happiness at the peace that had been established in the Nanung Traditional Area (Bimbilla) in the Northern Region and thanked the chiefs and populace for their cooperation and hard work.

The President said, "I am very glad to hear it because at every level, my primary concern is to make sure that there is peace in the area."

He was speaking on Tuesday when the chiefs of the Nanung Traditional Council paid him a courtesy visit at the Jubilee House in Accra.

Regarding security, President Akufo-Addo stated that the government has boosted the number of security officers and equipment stationed in the region to uphold peace and order.

While he acknowledged that there were still "some gaps that have to be filled, and efforts are being made to fill them to ensure issues of lawlessness in the area are dealt with," he also acknowledged that there were still some gaps.

The President also promised that the government would address their issues, particularly with regard to the extension of the Bimbilla Hospital to accommodate the rising patient load and the creation of a local health training facility.

Demarcation and loyalty

In response to some of the chiefs' worries about disputes resulting from the separation of political and administrative spheres, President Akufo-Addo said the administration was attempting to clear up such misunderstandings about allegiance to traditional leaders and respect for them.

"We haven't yet discovered a good solution to deal with it in our form of government," he remarked.

Naa Dasana had already brought up the concern that some territories and chiefs in the Nanung region were under the control of the Oti Region without the council's approval.

President Akufo-Addo recognized his worries and stated that the issue wasn't unique to the Nanung region, adding that in these circumstances, some unscrupulous individuals may take advantage of the misconceptions to further their narrow interests and generate commotion.

He praised the people, chiefs, and regent for working together to keep the traditional territory peaceful and stable.
