Members of Council 94 and Court 90 of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, a Catholic-friendly organization, have organized a number of blood donation drives to support the Greater Accra Regional Hospital's blood bank in conjunction with the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, both in Adentan.

The St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Adenta, the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Oyibi, and the Catholic Church of Our Lady Seat of Wisdom in Oyarifa all hosted the activity.

The practice was a part of the society's evangelization efforts and served to help fill the hospital's blood bank in an effort to save lives.

The group also offered free dental screenings to churchgoers as part of the activity.

The group initiated the blood donation event last year as part of the Accra East Region of the society, and it has now become a yearly event on their calendar.

The Accra Ridge Hospital received more than 400 pints of blood from the Accra East Region alone last year, and this year's blood donations are anticipated to increase.

According to Kwadwo Baffoe Donkor, Grand Knight of Council 94, Adentan, Knights of Marshall, the exercise has become a fixture and will be included in the society's calendar of activities each year.

According to him, the activity was intended to benefit society by saving the lives of those who could be in immediate need of blood.

"We frequently read about how pregnant women require blood to deliver, and their families and loved ones must scramble to find donors." Some unscrupulous people have also exploited this situation to get money.

"We want to make sure that people don't pass away because there isn't enough blood to save them."

You never know when you might need it; therefore, the blood you give now might save your life or the life of a family member tomorrow.

Appreciation

The Noble Lady of Court 90 of Ladies of Marshall, Adentan, Augusta Aba Eduful, for her part, expressed gratitude to the parishioners and members of the society for their assistance in ensuring the accomplishment of the exercise.

She hoped they would continue to volunteer their services whenever needed to help the worthwhile cause of blood donation and save lives.
