Apostle Eric Nyamekye has been re-elected by the Church of Pentecost as its chairman for the upcoming five years.
Apostle Nyamekye won a resounding majority of the votes during the church's 46th General Council Meeting, which took place yesterday at the Pentecost Convention Center in Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
Out of the 1,262 votes cast, he received 1,255 "yes" votes, or 99.45% of the total.
With 98% of the vote, Apostle Nyamekye was elected as the Sixth Chairman of the Church in 2018.
Vision
He launched "Vision 2023," a five-year strategic vision with the overriding goal of "Possessing the Nations," right away.
With the introduction of new ministry interventions like home and urban missions, ministry to persons with disabilities, chieftaincy ministry, chaplaincy ministry, school outreach ministry, PENSA (Pentecost Students Association) International, and Pentecost Workers Guild, among others, the church's ministry scope has expanded as a result of the Vision 2023 plan.
The church is believed to have reached and transformed many unreached people and disadvantaged groups via these ministry efforts, including commercial sex workers, street people, drug addicts, African migrants, expatriates, and herders, among others.
Service
The chairman, who was just re-elected, was called into the ministry in 1991 and has since worked in a variety of locations, including South Africa, where he served as a missionary.
Prior to his election, he worked with the church's youth ministry as a member of the National Executive Committee and subsequently as a patron. He also served on the church's executive council for five years.
He has a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Commercial Management in the UK, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Theology from the University of Manchester.
Six children have been born into the marriage of Apostle Nyamekye and Mary.
