Lionel Messi breaks his silence to apologize to his teammates following his suspension from PSG.
Lionel Messi is facing an awkward situation with his current club, Paris Saint-Germain, after being suspended by the Ligue 1 giants for an unofficial trip to Saudi Arabia.
After receiving a harsh punishment, Lionel Messi apologized profusely to his Paris Saint-Germain colleagues.
The Argentine superstar received a huge fine as well as a club ban for an unapproved mid-season vacation to Saudi Arabia. His colleagues were said to be stunned after seeing Messi trip - especially after being left reeling after a league defeat to Lorient.
Messi's mission was to fulfil his job as an ambassador for the Middle Eastern country. He did not obtain authorization from the club, and they have chosen to take action as a result.
In the aftermath of his suspension, he took to Instagram with a video address, saying, "I thought we had a day off after the game." I had planned this vacation and was unable to cancel it. I had previously cancelled it. I apologize to my teammates and am awaiting the club's decision on what to do with me."
Messi's antics have strained his bond with PSG fans even more. Protests against the forward were held outside the club's Paris offices.
PSG president Christophe Galtier has previously stated that conversations between Messi and the club will take place. In a press conference, the Frenchman stated, "We'll see what happens when Leo returns." Obviously, there will be club-wide talks.
He also said that he did not make the decision to suspend the former Barcelona star. "I did not have to make the decision," Galtier added. "I was informed of the decision."
Messi's future is uncertain as he strives to decide on his future. According to Mirror Football, he was poised to leave PSG at the end of his contract.
Barcelona has been linked with a move numerous times, but an emotional reunion has yet to occur. According to recent rumours, he is also in negotiations for a record-breaking move to Saudi Arabia this summer.
