Going into the final five crucial Premiership games, Kieran Freeman is pleased by Dundee United's return to form but maintains they are "far from out" of relegation jeopardy.

Jim Goodwin, who took over as manager of the Tannadice team on March 1 when Liam Fox left on a short-term deal, has overseen three victories in a row and just one loss in six games.

Before the league games were suspended for last weekend's Scottish Cup semifinals, United climbed up to 10th place, four points ahead of Ross County and ahead of Kilmarnock on goal differential.

On Saturday, Goodwin's team travels to Tayside rivals St Johnstone, who fired manager Callum Davidson after six straight losses, to resume play in the bottom six.

Just two points separate them from United after their most recent match, thanks to interim manager Steven MacLean's 1-1 draw with Hibernian, but Freeman is still worried.

"One weekend with the results going against us and we could be bottom again," the 23-year-old defender told DUTV.

Although we are far from out of it, things have been going well lately, so hopefully that continues.Although we entered the break in good form, the fact that we are still in it after three wins in a row illustrates how far off we were.We must re-start from scratch and gather as many points as we can.We have been playing well as a team, and moving more bodies forward and keeping a clean sheet in our most recent victory over Livingston helped.

The fact that the gaffer has us organized and difficult to beat makes a significant difference. He has been excellent since he joined the team, but I don't mean to disparage Foxy; the players were the ones who let him down; Foxy had nothing to do with it.However, we are attempting to maintain the club as a team.

"We would be overjoyed to wake up above St Johnstone on Sunday morning; that's one place away from the drop so that's a positive, but we have to take each game as it comes and try to get the three points."
