Jamie Carragher thinks he "killed" the debate between Steven Gerrard and former England teammates Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard.
It remains one of the most talked-about points in football - who is the better player:
Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard?
For those who think Frank Lampard is the best thing since the slice of bread, another disagrees and thinks Paul Scholes is the real conductor in midfield.
For example, Thierry Henry was asked by a fan if there was a current or former player he would like to play with. His answer? Paul Scholes.

Again, others will say Steven Gerrard is the better player. Before Jamie Carragher, who accompanied Gerrard very much.
In fact, the former Liverpool defender, who has played alongside Gerrard for most of his career, says it's not even in dispute.
Speaking on the That Peter Crouch podcast, Carragher agreed after Crouch said Gerrard was the best player he had played with 'so far'. Advertisement
Carragher says:
"It's not even close, is it?" People think I don't like Frank Lampard and I don't like Paul Scholes, you know, when this debate broke out, and I said, 'They're great players, but it's not even a contest. argument, it's not friendly. '"
The Sky expert then went on to explain his reasoning. "I'll tell you what's killing this debate," he said. "Alex Ferguson tried to sign him, so did Jose Mourinho. And they had Scholes and Lampard.

As Carragher mentioned in the podcast, Sir Alex Ferguson tried to sign Steven Gerrard during his tenure as Manchester United manager.
In his autobiography, Gerrard recalled how former United full-back Gary Neville would speak to his manager while on international duty.
"My agent, Struan Marshall, told me that under Fergie United, there was a guy who was pretty trying to sign me. Gary Neville knocked on my door during camps in England," he wrote.
“He came over to chat and tell me how much United wanted me to play for them. Gary told me that Fergie sent it.

Jose Mourinho was also interested in bringing the Liverpool legend to Chelsea in 2002, during his first visit to Stamford Bridge.
In fact, Chelsea made a £32m offer for Gerrard but the midfielder decided to stay at Anfield after much speculation.
