Arsenal are ‘very close’ to first summer signing who said moving from his current club would be ‘illogical’

Despite their current focus on the Premier League season, Arsenal are reportedly making headway in their pursuit of a summer transfer target. Although the Gunners still have a chance of winning the title, Manchester City have overtaken them at the top of the table, making it increasingly difficult to clinch the trophy. However, the prospect of signing quality players to the Emirates Stadium may help soften the blow of missing out on the title.

One potential signing that Arsenal is reportedly very close to acquiring is Martin Zubimendi, a midfielder from Real Sociedad. The player had previously claimed that leaving his current club would be illogical, but he appears to have changed his mind. The 24-year-old's qualities make him a valuable addition to Mikel Arteta's squad, as his passing accuracy of over 80% and 14 yellow cards this season indicate he could hold his own in the Premier League.

Arteta has a reputation for buying and selling players effectively, and he has managed to rid Arsenal of troublesome individuals while adding youthful dynamism to the team. However, he knows that there is no time to stand still when at the top, and the best teams consistently strive to strengthen their squads.

According to AS, Zubimendi's arrival at Arsenal is imminent, and if the deal is concluded, it would be another astute piece of business by the club. With his age and qualities, the Spaniard could fit seamlessly into Arteta's vision for the team, which is known for its attractive and free-flowing style of play.

Overall, Zubimendi's potential transfer to Arsenal shows that the Gunners are still able to attract quality players despite their recent lack of success on the pitch. Arteta's management style has been praised for its effectiveness, and this potential signing suggests that he is continuing to build a team that can compete at the highest level. Although the Premier League title may be out of reach this season, Arsenal fans can take heart in the knowledge that their club is still able to attract and sign top-quality players.
