According to Frank Lampard, Chelsea's new signings have not been given the chance to make the contacts essential to assemble a successful team.
The Blues lost at Arsenal 3-1 on Tuesday, their sixth straight defeat, dropping them to 12th in the Premier League standings as they appeared disjointed and without a game plan.
Many of the players that were signed in January have not had a great impact, with big-money acquisitions like Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke in particular showing merely glimpses of their potential.
In the club's defeat at the Emirates, Madueke at least scored his first goal for the squad; Mudryk, who cost 88 million despite only having 44 first-team appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk, has yet to do so.
Under former manager Graham Potter and during Lampard's disastrous interim tenure, there has been little stability in the starting XI.
It has made an uneven team that is overflowing with creative skill but lacking in goal scorers appear even more disjointed on the field and lacking in apparent harmony. In their last eight games, they have only scored twice.
Even though Chelsea's opponents have spent the majority of the season fighting for survival and were in the bottom three at the start of April, if they lose to Gary O'Neil's team on Saturday, they would fall below Bournemouth.
The statistics prove that we're the squad that shuffles its starting lineup the most, claimed Lampard. Finding the relationships and alliances inside the teamwhich, as we all know, are essentialis what I'm focusing on right now, as I'm entering the game. There are almost always ties between the best teams we've seen over the years. Full-backs: The full-backs are vitally essential to what Liverpool accomplish, to name one team.
It's challenging to discover that, and I believe it's crucial to understand that it's really challenging to obtain consistency in what you want when things are chaotic and we're going through a rough patch.
