LIVERPOOL'S MANAGER, JURGEN KLOPP, DISCUSSES THEIR ATTITUDE ON 'OVERPRICED' PLAYERS.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp maintains that they won't overspend on players this summer but is still optimistic about completing deals for their top targets.

The Reds had a poor season by their recent standards and, barring a late Manchester United meltdown, are probably not going to make the Champions League for the upcoming season.

Injury has been a major factor in Liverpool's demise, especially up forward, but as more clubs have developed strategies to counter Klopp's high-intensity style, the midfield's vulnerabilities have been repeatedly shown.

Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton & Hove Albion is presently Liverpool's top target for a midfielder, and 90min understands that the Reds are looking to get ahead of their Premier League rivals by finalizing a deal for the World Cup champion as soon as possible.

Other midfielders being considered by Liverpool include the Chelsea duo of Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic, as well as Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich. However, attempts for those three players may be influenced by a domino-like impact in the transfer market brought on by Jude Bellingham's decision to join Real Madrid.

When several teams shop in the same area, there is a chance that player prices will be artificially raised as selling parties attempt to negotiate the best terms. However, after dropping out of the running to sign Bellingham for those factors, Klopp asserts that Liverpool will not overpay for anyone, despite the need for new blood.

"We are unable to do it if they are pricey. The player is then unavailable for purchase. Players will be brought in. I have a good feeling that we'll get the players we want and the people who can support us," the German remarked.

"I have some confidence in that. Even though it's impossible to know for sure until they are signed, it is not unusual for certain teams to try to increase the asking price.
