The Ecuadorian midfielder did a fantastic job against Manchester United at right back.

Moises Caicedo, according to Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, is a "top player" who can play any position on the field.

Caicedo has been a standout for the Seagulls' midfield all season, but in Thursday's thrilling 1-0 victory over Manchester United, Caicedo had to step in at right-back owing to injuries to Pascal Gross, Joel Veltman, and Tariq Lamptey.

The Ecuadorian international could once again be used in the impromptu role with Gross facing a health test ahead of Monday night's match against Everton and Veltman expected to stay on the sidelines alongside Lamptey.

De Zerbi, the head coach, was apprehensive to go from a four-man defense versus United or bench midfielder Billy Gilmour after his pivotal performance in last Saturday's 6-0 demolition of Wolves.

And the Italian's choice was justified as Caicedo displayed excellent play in a thrilling contest won by Alexis Mac Allister's last-second penalty.

I considered switching to a three-defender defense, but De Zerbi stated, "I believe we have reached a high level of football and are playing with the right technologies."

"I also didn't want to alter.

"Caicedo can play everywhere, in my opinion. He is an elite player.

"I love allowing players the opportunity to demonstrate their talent, and Gilmour was magnificent against Wolverhampton, in my opinion.

Following Luke Shaw's handball in the ninth minute of added time, Mac Allister hammered home from the penalty spot to increase Brighton's prospects of making it to Europe.

Now that they have played three straight at home, the Seagulls are getting ready to face Sean Dyche's Toffees, who are in danger of being relegated.

De Zerbi has challenged every player in his team to be ready to support the club's effort to earn continental qualifying as there are still five Premier League games left over the next three weeks.

We currently need everyone, therefore I want them to always be prepared to play, he stated.

"To reach our goal, we need everyone's help."

Prior to the Everton match, Gross and the forward Evan Ferguson will be evaluated, although Veltman is not anticipated to play owing to a hamstring ailment.
