The Energy Company of Ghana (ECG) has cautioned energy consumers using illicit connections to go to their offices right away and sign up for their service lines in order to avoid being fined for what they claim is "stealing" by such users.
Samuel Dubik Mahama, the managing director of ECG, cautioned in a news conference that the business would not put up with anyone using power for free.
He said that the business is establishing a "flat rate" for power users who lack meters or are utilizing their service unlawfully.
ECG will soon begin offering a flat-rate service to people without meters while we wait for the meters to be supplied. A precise quote for that service will be sent to you. Now that we will no longer be telling everyone who signs up for our new service that we don't have a meter, they may go home and use the service where they are connected. "We won't be doing it any longer," he said.
Mr. Mahama instructed the unlawful customers to visit their offices to acquire a flat-rate payment arrangement until the firm supplies them with meters in order to avoid facing the wrath of ECG.
"Please come to our office as soon as possible if you are aware that you are using energy without using an ECG. A moratorium is in effect. Come to our office, and we'll open your account. We'll register you in our system. After inspecting your property, we'll place you on a flat rate. Until your meter is ready and you are switched over to it, you will continue to pay this flat rate. Your service is now finished, as soon as it is done.
The users were warned, and he emphasized, "Come to our office because when the date is set for the next revenue mobilization activity to take effect, if you haven't done this, any power utilized by you is regarded as "illegal' and is considered "stealing. Make your service queue now. Let's establish an account for you.
Until your meter is available, let's register you in the system and put you on a flat rate. Power cannot be used for nothing.
