Following their 4-3 victory at Anfield, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp chided Tottenham to "play better football."

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, was targeted by Ryan Mason after he criticized the manner in which Tottenham played last weekend.

Diogo Jota was the player who tackled Oliver Skipp in the head during the 4-3 game but stayed on the field to score the game-winning goal in stoppage time at Anfield, and Klopp was offended by Mason's remarks made after the game regarding Jota.

Mason expressed his frustration at Jota's ability to avoid receiving a red card, but Klopp responded in a BBC interview by telling the 31-year-old to "worry about other stuff" before telling Spurs they "can't just counter-attack" and admonishing them to "play better football."

Before Saturday's match against Crystal Palace, where just three wins for the hosts will keep their dreams of finishing in the top six alive, Tottenham's interim head coach reacted.

"Yeah, I mean, first of all, I respect and admire Jurgen Klopp," Mason remarked.

"I also appreciate Liverpool Football Club, but I honestly don't think I will ever be in a position to sit here and criticize another football club in the way they are doing things, regardless of what happens with my coaching career.

"Look, I won't start a verbal battle. That's what I think about it. In my opinion, it won't change in 20 years.

"I don't think I'll ever be in that position or have earned the right to criticize another football team for how they want to try and win the game and how they feel is the best chance for them to win the game at that particular moment in time," said the player.

Mason, who retired at the age of 26 after suffering a fractured skull after colliding heads with Chelsea's Gary Cahill during a game for Hull in 2017, may have had unpleasant flashbacks when he saw Skipp be hit in the head and collapse to the ground.
