Although discussions with Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to be simple, Bayern Munich is still interested in signing Harry Kane and wants to avoid a protracted saga, according to 90min.
After failing to find a replacement for Robert Lewandowski in 2022, the Bavarians are aiming to add a striker to their team this summer. Club president Herbert Hainer confirmed these plans after they were eliminated from the Champions League at the quarterfinal round last month.
When then-boss Julian Nagelsmann, who is ironically now in the running for the Spurs job, declared his appreciation for the England captain in July 2022, it enraged Antonio Conte, his rival.
In interviews since, a number of Bayern's top officials have expressed their love for Kane while also highlighting the fact that money would be a barrier to a deal.
Kane would be open to a move abroad, according to 90min, and while this is still the case, sources have stated that Bayern is beginning to change their minds.
Bayern has held discussions with middlemen, and the general consensus has been that any negotiations for Kane would not be simple. Bayern is determined to avoid becoming embroiled in a protracted transfer controversy.
While Kane is keeping his options open and a transfer to the Allianz Arena does still appeal to him, 90min understands that he is holding off on making a decision about his future until Tottenham names a new head coach and director of football, at which point he will reevaluate contract talks. His current contract is up in 2024.
In order to move quickly in their hunt for a striker, though, Bayern is now aggressively targeting fallback target Randal Kolo Muani.
Bayern Munich is unwilling to meet Eintracht Frankfurt's current asking price of €100 million for the France international, although negotiations are still ongoing.
In response to a question on the club's interest in Kolo Muani, head coach Thomas Tuchel initially laughed before saying, "I cannot confirm that [he is a target]." In any event, even if it were true, I wouldn't confirm it. That's not a topic right now.
Since moving to Frankfurt from Nantes last summer, Kolo Muani has scored 21 goals in 41 appearances. He also played a key role in France's march to the World Cup final in Qatar, where he was famously denied by an outstanding Emi Martinez stop in the final minute of extra time.
