Ghanaian dancehall musician born Livingstone Etse Satekla better known as Stonebwoy is currently facing a series of backlashes over a comment he made regarding the “Artiste of the Year” category of the best Ghanaian award scheme in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). According to the renowned and well-known dancehall artiste both local and international, he should have already won the “Artiste of the Year” category about four times if things were equal. His assertions come after he met some industry players and they were having a discussion.
According to Stonebwoy, he has won reggae artiste of the year at the VGMA fit six consecutive times that's from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. Backing his assertions he claimed that, per this logic of winning the reggae artiste of the year for six consecutive times, it's evident that he should have also won the overall artiste of the year for about four times if we all being truthful. His assertions sparked a whole lot of conversation on social media with users agreeing and disagreeing with his claims.
Stonebwoy is out with his fifth studio album titled “5Th dimension”, the album is a 17-track list album with features from Davido, Stormzy, shaggy, Angelique Kidjo, Tiwa Savage, Dexta Daps, and others. The album which was released on 28 April 2023 is already making waves and topping charts on Audiomack, Boomplay, Spotify, and Apple Music.

“He should give us a break. Just 2 songs under the
year of review and it's not even a reggae or
dancehall yet still you were nominated in reggae/
dancehall artist category. Vgma is not credible”.

“Stonebwoy doesn't need awards, he is the most
the talented musician we have currently, followed
closely by Blacko. I wish they were Nigerians, they
would have been on top of the world by now, our
industry is messed up big time”
