Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola was angry with Erling Haaland for letting Gundogan take a penalty during their Premier League game with Leeds earlier today.

Manchester City were leading Leeds United  2-0 when they were awarded a penalty for Pascal Struijk's foul on Phil Foden in the final minutes (84th) of the game.

Erling Haaland passed the penalty on to Gundogan because he wanted to give him the chance to score a hat-trick after scoring a brace.

Gundogan was not lucky enough and missed from the spot by hitting the post. As a result, Leeds regained possession and went down the other end to score.

Manchester City won the game 2-1 but that didn't stop Pep Guardiola from venting his frustration over Haaland's decision to pass the penalty on to the German star Gundogan.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

The German player Ilkay Gundogan scored twice in the first half to give Manchester City’s 10th straight Premier League win but he was unlucky to hit the post with a penalty kick as he failed to seal his hat trick.

After some moments  Rodrigo made it 2-1 as the coach Pep Guardiola was very furious because Erling Haaland didn’t take the spot kick but passed to Gundogan.

ManCity held on for the win as Leeds will be happy enough with the narrow defeat but Sam Allardyce’s side barely had any chances in the final third aside from their goal.

Comments after the game

Pep Guardiola: ‘The guys played outstanding football’

“We played really, really good and if we had been more clinical up front would have been defined before,” Guardiola said “But we will not forget, three games in six days and after the Arsenal game with a lot of tension emotionally and everything, the guys played outstanding football, especially in the first half. The second half was more controlled because there are a lot of games.”
