NEWBORN JAUNDICE

NEONATAL JAUNDICE, SIGNS , CAUSES AND TREATMENT.

Learn to help save a child's life.

Jaundice occurs newborn or neonates from the second day of birth and will disappear within two(2) weeks .

The reason why this occurs is due to hyperbilirubinemia where there is increase in bilirubin in the baby's blood.

Hyperbilirubinemia occurs when the liver of the baby is  not matured enough to break down high rate o bilirubin in the baby leading to yellowish discoloration of the skin and eye.

It can also be due to high intake of drugs  such as Acetaminophen commonly known as paracetamol which can damage the liver especially Pregnant woman who abuses some of these drugs .

Again some disease of the liver in newborn like Hypertension A, Hypertension B , Hypertension C, Hypertension D and Hypertension E which may cause your liver not to function properly.

Other research have that  exposure to some poisons eg. Some mushrooms can cause damage to the liver.

HOW CAN IT BE CURED?

The best of way of treating newborn jaundice is the use of phototherapy ( The newborn is exposed to this light) which a light from the sun or an artificial light which helps the liver to break down the high rate of bilirubin in the blood and mothers are also to breastfeed the baby to help clear away this bilirubin through the newborn excretes.

Also I will advise most pregnant women who abuses drugs to put a stop to the abuse of some these drugs so that their babies liver will not be damaged since whatever the mother takes in is also passed to the baby through the umbilical cord which may cause serious effect to the baby.

To help save a newborns life from jaundice we have to know all these tips so that if our newborn shows any signs of jaundice it can be treated as early as possible.
