The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has recently restated that, resolving the longstanding tribal conflict that is in existence in Bawku, which is located within the Upper East Region of Ghana is seen as a top precedence of his government’s national safety and also an aspect of security agenda.
Also, the President noted that, major significant efforts are being made to come out with a lasting solution to this crisis which has already claimed considerable number of lives over the years in Bawku. The president of the Republic of Ghana, upon speaking on the 1st day of May,2023, that is, during this year’s May Day which is also known as International Workers Day (IWD) celebrations in Upper East Region in Bolgatanga, he again restored confidence to Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, who is regarded as the Secretary General of the Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC) that, the conflict which had been in Bawku still remains a very high priority for his tenure of office in his administration.
The President, in addition expressed his maximum desire to see lasting peace and harmonious environment between the people in Bawku most especially, those involved in the tribal conflict before the end of his time period in office, by making it clear that, nothing would provide him greater pleasure rather than being able to resolve the tribal conflict between the people. He additionally noted that, the state of security affairs within the area has been strengthened or reinforced, and all those individuals who will one way or the other violate the law will surely be held accountable.
The President proceeded further to caution all those people who intend to destabilize the peace and security of the Republic of Ghana that, the majority of Ghanaians who are devoted to democracy will face up to them. President Akufo-Addo overlooked the resolution of the longstanding of the crisis of Dagbon which was during his first term which later brought about the Abudus and Andanis together.
The president in his statement said that 'May God grant me the necessary wisdom to achieve that outcome.' This was what he said after bringing his address at the International Workers Day celebration in Bolgatanga which is found in the Upper East Region of Ghana to an end. This clearly shows that, the president has a greater concern about the crisis which has been occuring in Bawku through prioritizing measures to bring about peace and safety among the people.
