Son Heung-min was allegedly subjected to racist insults during Saturday's Premier League match against Crystal Palace, and Tottenham has stated that they are cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
A man in the Palace end of the field makes a racist gesture toward Son as Son passes by in a video that has gone viral on social media.
Spurs released the following statement: "We are aware of a claim of racial abuse directed against Heung-Min Son during yesterday's game.
"Discrimination of any kind is reprehensible and has no place in our game, in society, or at our club.
"We are collaborating with the Met Police and Crystal Palace to look into the incident and find the offender.
"We will exert every effort to ensure that, if found guilty, the person will face the harshest punishment possible, as was the case earlier this year when Son received similar racial abuse at Chelsea," the statement continued.
"We are aware of a video circulating online (as well as reports made directly to us) regarding an individual in the away end at Spurs yesterday, appearing to make racist gestures towards Heung-Min Son," continues Palace in a statement. When he is located, he will be subject to a club suspension due to evidence that has been given to the police. Such conduct is not acceptable in our club.
After making a racist gesture toward Son in August 2022, Thomas Burchell was charged with a racially aggravated public order offense and given a stadium suspension by Chelsea. In addition, he received a three-year ban from watching any live football games and a £1,107 total punishment.
Son was inserted late in Saturday's 1-0 victory for Tottenham. Harry Kane scored the game's lone goal with a header to give Spurs their first victory in five games and raise them back up to sixth place in the Premier League.
