David Silva's successful side business is already making him a fortune after becoming 'obsessed

David Silva never needed to be great or insolent as a footballer - he always let his qualities speak for themselves.

And now it looks like the former Manchester City midfielder is eyeing quality in his hustle, as a winemaker in Spain.

Silva may be 37 years old and leave City in the summer of 2020 - with four Premier League championship medals around his neck - but he continues to assist Real Sociedad in La Liga.

The Basque club have enjoyed a fantastic campaign in La Liga, currently trying to secure a Champions League spot and Silva has signed a contract extension until June 2024.

But the Spaniard still has an eye on his long-term future, even if that means skipping the path of becoming a professional or challenging training. He is gearing more towards winemaking.

Four years ago, Silva partnered with winemaker Jonatan Garcia and founded his own winery called Bodega Tameran, based in the Canary Islands.

According to Diario AS, the business has proven 'fat' for the 2010 World Cup winner - former national team teammate Andres Iniesta also has his own winery.

Garcia was recently asked about his work with Silva and whether his passion for football translates into alcohol (sorry for the pun).

"Yeah, he's a monster," Garcia said. "He's obsessed. When he's doing something, he wants to be the best. So is football."

Silva talked about the wine he produces and how he got into the industry in an interview with Expansión, Silva saying:

"Above all, they're wines that will tell you where they come from, you'll know they're from the Canary Islands.

“I explored this world a few years ago in the usual way:

you start going there with a little older co-workers, you try, you like, you learn about it, you'll know."
