Looking back at some of the highlights from Arsenal's match against Newcastle in the Premier League on football.london

With a composed 2-0 victory over Newcastle at St. James' Park, Arsenal maintained their Premier League title aspirations. The game got off to a shaky start when Jacob Murphy struck the post inside of a minute and the hosts believed they had a penalty for a handball by Jakub Kiwior before VAR stepped in.

Martin Odegaard punched them in front from the edge of the box after the Gunners had survived the early storm and gotten back into the game. Before halftime, there may have been more, but Newcastle came back strongly after the interval, forcing Aaron Ramsdale into some magnificent saves.

Fabian Schar could only turn Gabriel Martinelli's cross into his own net as Arsenal once more held steady in the face of Geordie pressure. The outcome assures that the Gunners will continue to fight for as long as possible and cuts Manchester City's lead over them in the Premier League standings to just one point.

Isak and Odegaard embrace.

Martin Odegaard and Alexander Isak were arguably the two players on either team who were in the best shape going into this game. With 15 goals so far this season, the Norwegian has been on fire for Arsenal. Isak, meantime, has been making waves for Newcastle with his performance.

White is still working on the housery.

As a master of the dark arts, Ben White has made a name for himself. The England international, despite having a choirboy appearance, is not hesitant to get his hands filthy if necessary.

This happened once more. The proper course of action would have been to wait for Joe Willock to retake his position before rushing to kick a ball that had rolled back onto the field of play out of play so that Arsenal could take a throw in. White, however, wasn't in the mood to do his former teammate any favors and threw the ball directly into the area that he had freed up. Fortunately for Newcastle official Chris

In order to prevent Arsenal from taking advantage of the space, Kavanaugh decided that the throw-in must be retaken.

Saka requires assistance in coping with the suffering

Bukayo Saka has been the victim of a few heavy challenges, which is nothing new for Arsenal, but watching him lay down in agony is. The ordinarily tough England international found it difficult to get up after Bruno Guimaraes stepped on his Achilles.

Saka spent some time writhing in agony on the floor, and even when he managed to stand back up, he found it difficult. Just before the start of halftime, the 21-year-old had to go over to club physician Gary O'Driscoll to get some pain medication.

Mikel Arteta makes a mistake against Newcastle, and Arsenal must learn from it to maintain their title hopes.
