Manchester United supporters reacted with fury after goalkeeper David de Gea produced another error to allow West Ham to take the lead.

De Gea has found himself increasingly under the spotlight in recent weeks and months with debate raging over whether or not the club should offer him a new contract.

The Spaniard did little to help his case to remain as the club's No 1 with another egregious mistake, gifting Said Benrahma a goal.

Benrahma was released by Michail Antonio and ran at the United backline, though surrounded by a number of defenders he appeared to have a difficult job on his hands finding the back of the net.

Letting off a speculative effort with his right-foot, Benrahma's shot was weak and should have easily been saved by De Gea but the Spain international allowed it to squirm under his arm, sparking wild scenes at the London Stadium as West Ham chase Premier League survival.

The goal could have potentially enormous ramifications for United's top four hopes, with Liverpool increasingly breathing down their necks as the season enters its final weeks.

'Absolute farce': fans hit out after Wan-Bissaka and Soucek are both allowed to stay on the pitch

Fans watching West Ham's clash with Manchester United were far from impressed as Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tomas Soucek were both allowed to stay on the pitch after a nasty clash of heads.

The incident, which came as two men competed for a cross, saw both left lying on the floor in serious pain.

The stoppage lasted seven minutes with a stretcher being brought out on a buggy as a precaution.

It seemed as if neither player would be continuing in the game considering the new concussion laws.

However, they were both allowed to stay on and complete the match.

And viewers quickly took to social media to criticise what they deemed to be irresponsible.

'Absolute farce Soucek and Wan Bissaka are still on the pitch here,' wrote one.

'It’s time football brought in HIA,' wrote another. 'Wan Bissaka and Soucek shouldn’t be back on the pitch until they’ve been properly assessed.'

Another posted: 'If we are serious on concussion protocols, there is no way Aaron Wan-Bissaka & Tomas Soucek are allowed to keep playing. That was a 7 minute stoppage, they should've both been taken off.'

West Ham won the game thanks to a terrible mistake from David De Gea, who allowed Said Benrahma's tame strike to slip past his hand.

The result all but secures top flight survival for the hammers, who are now seven points above the drop.
