The Liverpool manager had a message for anyone visiting the city

Liverpool FC coach Jurgen Klopp has sent a heartfelt message to the city and everyone who came here for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The city will host the 2023 contest after Ukraine won last year but was unable to host it due to the ongoing Russian invasion. Across Liverpool, special events and concerts took place as part of preparations for the final on Saturday 13 May at the M&S Bank Arena.

Thousands of people from across Europe are expected to come to the city center and the football manager wants to welcome visitors to the city he has lived in for many years.

In a video released by Liverpool City Council, Reds manager Klopp said:

"Hello, welcome to Liverpool, home of Liverpool Football Club, The Beatles, many museums and galleries, and in this two weeks - Eurovision 2023. As someone who is clearly not a Scouser, I just want to tell visitors what a great time you will have.

"Liverpool has been my family and mine for many years now and everyone here is amazing - warm, funny, very open and welcoming. I also know the city takes its responsibility seriously. What a wonderful performance named Ukraine.

"Even if you don't have a ticket to see the competition, there's still a lot for you and your friends to do. Unite by music? "There's no doubt that would be great. And to the people of Ukraine, wherever you are, I want you to know this:

You will never walk alone."

Liverpool were forced to fight for three points against Brentford, but the 1-0 win lifted the team's winning streak to six in a row.

Mohamed Salah headed the ball home after Virgil van Dijk's header from inside the box in the first half, and the visitors' late-game pressure was not enough to steal points on the penalty spot.

The victory leaves the Red Devils one point behind the fourth team in the table, but Man United still has two matches to play.

There's been a lot more business going on this season, but fans still have plenty to discuss post-match.

Alisson is shown the yellow card for wasting time…

It was a big night for the Brazilian as he kept his 100th clean sheet for the club, but the match was not without incident.

Alisson received a yellow card for wasting time in the second half after a bad afternoon by referee Anthony Taylor.

Fans have shared their thoughts, with some suggesting that Jurgen Klopp's recent problems with officials may have played a role in the decision:

As if he just put Alisson there, what a joke?

How was Alisson booked for wasting time? Wasted time visiting goalkeepers this season and getting absolutely nothing. Referee can return to Klopp

It's amazing to see Alisson getting a yellow card there when you see how much time other teams have spent at Anfield without a single penalty.

But it's funny how a time-wasting keeper got a warning at 77 minutes. Like intentionally trolling

It seems that Klopp's comments about the referee do not fit the PGMOL.

The way Brentford fouled the smallest of touches and the way every time he pulled Salah and Gakpo were ignored is unreal. Also this yellow for Alisson.

Terrible Executive from Anthony Taylor.#LFC

Totally strange.

Boss takes off his hat

No punches on this occasion, but a relieved Klopp found a new perspective on The Kop after the final whistle.

The manager took off his hat and bowed to supporters after his team's sixth straight win in a tight tie against ninth-placed Brentford.

Seeing Klopp take off his hat reminds me of that. So sorry. https:
