Lionel Messi returns to PSG
PSG star forward, Lionel Messi, has returned to training after being suspended for missing a training session due to an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia. The French media reported that Messi was suspended for two weeks after his trip, which occurred after the team's 3-1 defeat to Lorient in Ligue 1 last month.
Messi, who apologized to PSG and his teammates on Friday, was not included in the squad for their 3-1 victory over Troyes on Sunday. However, PSG has confirmed that the Argentinian striker is back in training, as shown in a social media post that read, "The Argentinian striker from Paris Saint-Germain was back in training on Monday 8 May."
PSG is currently leading Ligue 1, six points ahead of Lens and eight points ahead of Olympique de Marseille, with four more rounds of games left this season.
Recently, there has been speculation about Messi's future at PSG. According to a source close to the Argentina captain, he received a formal offer to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal next season, and a contract renewal at PSG is not on the table. Messi, who will turn 36 next month, became Saudi Arabia's tourism ambassador last year and visited Jeddah in May 2022.
He returned to the country in January to play a friendly match with PSG against a team of Saudi League stars, where he faced his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
