With three games left, the Foxes face a real threat of being relegated from the Premier League.
Dean Smith acknowledged that he did not anticipate Leicester's terrible first-half showing as they were defeated 5-3 by Fulham at Craven Cottage, furthering their relegation woes.
Leicester's leaky and disjointed defense allowed Fulham to rip through them and build a three-goal lead by halftime, overrunning the visitors before the break.
Willian, Tom Cairney, and Carlos Vinicius all scored twice each side of halftime to confirm the home team's domination. Two goals from Harvey Barnes in the second half and a James Maddison penalty gave the score some legitimacy while masking Leicester's weaknesses.
With three games left, Smith's team is now in grave danger of being demoted from the Premier League. He stated: "The game was lost in the first half.
"The first half's performance was a far cry from what the players are capable of and what it has historically been.
I was surprised by it, so I'm disappointed. We had a successful training week with good attitudes, applications, and quality.
"I had hoped for a much stronger showing and a better opening to the game than we received. At this level, it will be difficult to win if you concede the kinds of goals that we did.
"I don't like basketball games; I don't believe it's appropriate for us considering that it's been so long since we've had a spotless record.
The first goal, a cheap free-kick that went straight in, was really disappointing. From there, you could see their players' vigor.
"It was just too simple to enter our penalty area and create opportunities. To try to stop the flow, we were really glad to enter at halftime.
"At halftime, I wasn't pleased, and the players weren't pleased with their play either. We made a stronger transition into the second half, had an early opportunity, but failed to capitalize on our own counterattack.
