Rob Edwards was pleased to extend Luton's winning streak to 14 games as Hull held a much-changed team to a scoreless Sky Bet Championship draw.
In preparation for Saturday's play-off semi-final first leg match against Sunderland, the Hatters manager switched eight of his players, but those chosen preserved a 20th clean sheet of the campaign.
Let's be honest, added Edwards, "Today was about resting crucial guys.
"I think it was twofold and generally it was a successful day. It was about making sure we didn't risk anyone needlessly and about providing some guys some game time as over the next couple of games, if they're needed, we want everybody up to speed.
"I want to congratulate (Hull manager) Liam Rosenior and the team for their efforts this season because he's developing a solid style there and they may be challenging to press at times.
For some of the players who haven't played as much, making a lot of double runs and pressuring was beneficial. We also displayed terrific control and bravery with the ball when we had it, especially in the first half.
"We did generate a few good opportunities and moments, but the game kind of fizzled out toward the end."
Hull's Allahyar Sayyadmanesh had a shot ricochet onto the post in the first half, while visiting goalkeeper Matt Ingram made a terrific save on Joe Taylor's header.
Luton goalkeeper James Shea denied Adama Traore, and Hatters substitute Luke Berry's chip from just inside the visitors' half just missed the goal.
The Tigers' head coach, Rosenior, said: "The last game summarizes where we are.
"We occasionally played some stunning football, and I was happy with the way we set up for the first two-thirds of the game. We caused problems, and they had to make adjustments—just as teams do when playing against us.
"But it just fizzled out when we entered the final third into some unbelievable positions, and that's no disrespect to our players, I've got no strikers," said the coach.
