In their final Sky Bet Championship match of the year at Kenilworth Road, Luton and Hull drew 0-0.

Rob Edwards, the Luton manager, made eight changes with the Tigers safe in mid-table and the Hatters already qualified for the play-offs in third place.

After totally controlling possession in the early going, Adama Traore's two attempts were deflected behind for corners, giving the visitors the first opportunities.

Then, when Sonny Bradley's feeble back header was scooped up by Allahyar Sayyadmanesh, Hull had a wonderful opportunity. However, the recovering Luton captain came back in time to deflect Sayyadmanesh's shot onto the post.

On the 20th minute, Town got their first meaningful opportunity when Luke Freeman's shot took a deflection off a defender and bounced up for ex-Hatters loanee Matt Ingram to comfortably gather.

As halftime approached, Luton had their finest opportunity of the half when Alfie Doughty and Jordan Clark linked up for the latter to send in a wonderful cross that was met by Joe Taylor, whose header was stopped by an outstanding save from Ingram.

Play swiftly moved to the other end, where Traore had a shot from a 25-yard free kick that James Shea, who had been recalled, expertly palmed away.

Lewis Coyle, the captain of the Tigers, attempted to help City after the break, but his adventurous half-volley from the edge of the box flew way wide.

Prior to City having an opportunity to open the scoring, Luton's substitute Henri Lansbury blasted over the top from a distance. Sayyadmanesh then missed the target when the ball fell invitingly to him in the area.

During the second period, Town changed five players, and one of the replacements, Luke Berry, then came dangerously close to scoring the season's first goal.

In an attempt to beat Ingram from just inside the City half, the midfielder sprinted away to get hold of a clearing. His effort just narrowly missed coming down in time.
